![]() ![]() According to his student Plato, Socrates described his Daimonion as an inner voice that forewarned and guided him since childhood in matters of his own life and ways of conducting himself towards others though it never urged him to go forward, nor did it command him to do anything - an inner voice that inspired him throughout his life. ![]() Daimon has been associated with many concepts like bliss, providence, fate, destiny, angels, and even demons over the course of history though it is fairly well established that there are good daimons and bad daimons, which is highly relevant to its astrological applications.ĭespite numerous mentions in pre-Socratic philosophy, the concept of Daimon was not associated with personal divinity until Socrates famously claimed to have a Daimonion in him. The concept of Daimon was prevalent in ancient Greece until the end of the Hellenistic period and a matter of profound discussion that captured the attention of some of the greatest minds in history. It is commonly referred to as a guardian or protective spirit of the soul, present from one’s birth until their earthly departure, and functions as an aid to the soul to fulfill its purpose on the physical plane. Daimon (Daemon), also known as “Genius,” can be thought of as a spiritual entity that functions as an intermediary between the gods and humans.
